COSTUMES
For the costumes, we went for that casual yet natural look to reflect the main character's very lost, confused state of mind. Since Challa is based on self-discovery, we wanted the look to be easy, casual, and relatable rather than stiff and stylized.
The Androon Pindi shots were in a black shalwar kameez that would merge with the traditional environment while enhancing the Punjabi essence of the song. This dark costume felt appropriate for the character due to its emotional trauma and an introspective search. The western costumes, on the other hand, for the Islamabad scenes, were more appropriate for an urban setting. The change in attire accentuated the contrast between these two worlds that the character traverses, thus, symbolically emphasizing his search for identity and belonging.
